what is the difference between a homosexual who spends a lot of time and money only to find themselves once again drawn to yield to their lusts for the same sex?

.... and an overweight person who spends years going to weight watcher meetings, counseling, money, energy to lose weight and time and again finds themselves drawn to the refrigerator and to the urge to give into the sin of gluttony?

Romans 7 is a reality. We are pulled to sin. The thing that we want to do, we don't do and the thing that we don't want to do, we do.

Focusing on God realigns our thinking, but just as Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on water, one look away from God in man and he was sinking.

Whatever the sin ... it is still sin and it keeps us from God, especially when we focus on the sin instead of Him.

To excuse a yielding to a temptation to sin because "they could not help it" renders the person mentally incompetent or gives that sin an exception to Phil. 4:13.

At that point some one needs to say "Hey, God can be even enough, if you look to him completely." That is not saying "turn off yourself, it is saying turn to God." Yielding to this interaction is just as wrong as the married man looking outside his marriage for physical relations. But there is no wrong in turning to God to be enough.
